Join us for this short course exploring economic ethics and values in Judaism and Jewish thought, taught by our very own Rabbi Max Chaiken. Our sacred texts contain a wide range of laws and stories that feature money, markets, and business matters. What kinds of values do these texts impart? How might they inspire us or guide us in our choices today? Using texts from the Torah and Talmud through today, we will explore some of these topics and their evolution throughout Jewish history, as well as some of the ways that Jewish values align or contract with the contemporary underpinnings of economic study and analysis. As you may know, Rabbi Chaiken holds a BA in Economics and Public Policy from Brown University, and this area of study was the topic of his rabbinic thesis research. Come learn with us on Tuesday nights throughout the winter and early spring!
